Editorial – A Personal Reflection

As many of you know, for the past 32 years we have been designing and manufacturing premium-quality components that fit properly, install easily, and meet the standards that Porsche enthusiasts expect.
Recently, I was once again speaking with a prospective customer who wanted to know the price of one of our products. I provided the quotation for the part he was interested in.
His response was simple: “It’s too expensive.”
I understand that. We produce exceptionally high-quality components using premium raw materials, and that inevitably comes at a cost.
What he said next, however, left me speechless:
« I found a cheaper one on Alibaba. »
A low-grade imitation manufactured in China. A part produced by someone who has likely never even seen a Porsche in person, working from counterfeit molds and using inferior materials.
And yet this prospective customer is prepared to purchase a poorly made, potentially unsafe component simply because it costs less than ours.
He intends to install it on a Porsche worth tens of thousands of euros, replacing a factory component with a part that is worth a fraction of the value of what it replaces.

I find that deeply disappointing.

In my view, people who make such choices have lost sight of what Porsche ownership is truly about: passion. A Porsche is not merely a means of transportation; it is the product of engineering excellence, heritage, and emotion. It deserves to be maintained and enhanced with the same respect and attention to detail that went into its creation.
Never forget that owning a Porsche is a privilege that few people in the world have the opportunity to enjoy. Treat that privilege with the passion it deserves, and make choices that reflect your appreciation for the marque.
